In April 2025, the Southern California Brass Consortium launched its educational outreach program, "The Great American Band."

Sponsored by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and conducted by Kurt Curtis, the program is a 45-minute concert presentation which introduces elementary school students to different styles of music, such as marches, jazz, opera, patriotic music, circus music, ragtime, movie music, and pop music.

Also, students from various high schools are invited to join in at certain points of the concert to perform with the band. The students attending are encouraged to interact and sing along, and the response from the students was overwhelmingly positive.
